Second day - Exploring Vegas!

It's lunchtime of the second day, and I've just gotten back to my hotel room for a break, and some Via instant coffee from Starbucks (Italian Roast instant that tastes like fresh-brewed! YUM!)
Switched to shorts and tshirt instead of the jeans/boots/shirt from yesterday. It's just too HOT!! It's 105 outside today! Even for this Dingo it's a little too hot... But I'm making the best of it, getting outside and walking everywhere. Maybe I'll lose a little of this extra weight (!)
My first stop was at the Mirage across the street. Nice casino, very clean, and the waitresses weren't as surly as at the Imperial Hotel casino. Maybe I just caught her on the wrong day.
Played a few one-armed bandits, and that's an appropo name for them there! Took every last cent I put in them!
Then it was off to explore, went back to Treasure Island to get better pics of the ships out front (I'm attaching pics to this post and the next). The work that went into recreating these ships was phenomenal. I was impressed! And the fact that one of the ships actually "floats" into position when the show starts is amazing. These are life-size reproductions folks, not just stages...
OK, then I had to get serious. Headed over (and I mean OVER, there's overpasses for the roads EVERYWHERE...) to Caesar's Palace. The sheer magnitude of the place comes through just walking up to the front doors. The waterfalls and lush vegetation are a tribute to the grounds crews. The "sprinklers" over the walkway into the front are a nice feature, cools ya down while you wait for a taxi. I stood there a few minutes just to acclimate to the air conditioning inside, so I didn't get a chill. LOL
The one thing I can say about the service in Caesar's is that they have the nicest waitresses. I had to have THREE point out the directions to the cashier's cage, and all three were smiling and treated me like a guest, not some hick from Colorado...
Lost a few bucks there, and headed out for the Bellagio. Now THIS is the way you should first see Vegas. The interior was luxurious, and everyone was smiling and helpful to a fault. The shops outside the Bellagio, and across the street at the Miracle Mile of shops were fantastic. Had to pause and think of the prices before I went into them, though. Boy, it must be nice to be able to afford those things!
On to Planet Hollywood... Confusing layout, because the shops and casino go around a wide, circular theatre, so you end up where you began. Stopped at the ubiquitous Starbucks for a vente frappucino with extra coffee... Hit the spot and cooled me off while I played a few slots.
This time I actually WON... $35, which made up for the past four casinos I hit. Maybe my luck is changing!
In Vegas, Baby!

I got here a little after 6PM local time. Got checked into the Imperial Palace hotel (which is NOT the best place I've seen. More on that later). I spent some time just walking between the casinos, which is a pet peeve with me, because you can't just walk to a casino. You have to go roundabout a permanent street fair, up some escalators, across a walkway, down the escalators, then across the side street. That's just to get to Treasure Island! I'll explore more tomorrow...
Got my new IPhone!

One of the first people to get it, it's definitely another great product from Apple...
It's heftier in the hand than my previous 3G. it's heavier, but it's also thinner, so it's gonna take a bit of getting used to. Where my previous 3G was rounded on the back, giving it a nice feel in my hand, this one is squared off, and feels a little strange.
Activation was simple and quick, just hooked it up once I had ITunes running, and after a couple of security questions, it came back as activated. I was expecting long waits or timeouts due to all the people trying to activate their IPhones today, but maybe I was just lucky.
The screen is definitely better than my 3G. Putting them side by side, you can SEE the difference. Now I just need to get a screen protector for it. I was looking online earlier and found quite a few different ones, so I'm sure Best Buy will have them.
The flash and camera(s) are built in nicely, with hardly a break in the surface, I can't wait until I can try it out! (The IPhone is still syncing, since I've got over 2500 songs on it!)
I'll post more when I've had more time with it to play and try it out. Laterz!
My new IPhone 4 is on its way!

The past couple days I've been tracking the package from Lantau Island Hong Kong, to Anchorage, to Indianapolis, and finally to Denver! I should have it in hand tomorrow sometime!
I'll post more information once I get it up and running. At least now I won't be running out of room for a while. My poor old 3G has been maxed out for a while now, but the 4G has 32 Gigs of space! Yeaahhh!Leaving for Vegas in two days!

I can't wait! I'm leaving for Vegas in under two days now!
I'll be staying right on the "new" strip (new because I haven't been there in 27 years, and what USED to be the strip isn't anymore, I guess!)
I'll be sending pics and blogs of my adventures as I go. Stay tuned!
