I got an email alert last night on my IPhone, but when I went to turn it on via the on button, nothing happened! I was dismayed.. I tried holding the power button in for a couple minutes, to do a reset. Nothing. I tried putting it on the charger cable, but again, nothing.
That's when I decided I had to go to Apple. I got up early this morning, and went into the local (somewhat, it's a fair distance from where I live) Apple store.

But to my dismay AGAIN, I was told I needed an appointment! Since when does a simple exchange need an appointment? I was helped very courteously by an Apple rep, who put me in for an appointment in an hour and a half! They should tell people when they buy an Apple product that you need an appointment in advance just to ask a few questions...Anyway, I finally was called for my "appointment", and the tech rep listened to what I had tried, and promptly held down the On button AND the home button. Amazingly, this is NOT covered in the Apple user guide included with the phone. But nonetheless, the phone started resetting. When I asked how I was supposed to know how to do that, the rep simply said "That's for us to know".
If I had seen ANY clue that this was possible, I would've tried it myself, and not taken the precious time of a tech rep. Come on, Apple, give us a clue in the future!
