The Senate and House finally passed the Unemployment benefits extension! It's about time!

Personally, I don't see why they held off. Yes, it will further bloat the national debt, but this is people's lives we're talking about. This is just as much an emergency as Hurricane Katrina! People are losing their homes and everything they own.

I must say I agree, I don't LIKE extending the national debt, but hey, I was unemployed myself for quite a while, and the unemployment I received just barely kept me afloat. And all the talk about "it will just enable people to not search for work" is a load of bull.

I don't know of anyone that doesn't look for work while they're unemployed. Sure, it's a great time (if you can afford it) to take some time off for vacation, but other than that, I'm seeing the same people on the same websites looking for work all the time.
